What to wear to an appointment
HER Wellness is responding to our patients’ requests! Patients tell us that appointments are more comfortable if we no longer use paper gowns for breast exams. We ask that you wear loose-fitting blouses and pants or skirts when you visit our offices. You will still be given a drape for pelvic exams.
Administrative notes
When a patient has scheduled an annual exam and informs us of a complication such as irregular bleeding, discharge, cramping or pain, we may need to schedule an additional appointment to fully investigate the issue. Please think of this as similar to a dental exam. When a patient arrives for a 6-month cleaning and check and the hygienist finds an issue or they mention soreness, the dentist does not fill cavities or perform a root canal at this cleaning appointment; another appointment must be made.
HER Wellness will also need to make another appointment, to be sure we have ample time to devote to accurate examination, thorough investigation and correct diagnosis. The patient may also need to schedule an ultrasound, blood work or other tests at this time. These results will generally be reviewed in a telehealth visit so that we can fully discuss the implications of any abnormal findings as well as make a plan for any further testing or treatment.
While we try to address problems during the annual exam when possible, insurance requires us to report the appointment in a different manner, sometimes prompting a copay from the patient. A copay may also be assessed when we move from an annual screening mammogram to a diagnostic mammogram, performed when a radiologist sees an area that needs further investigation.
We are transitioning our billing and administrative systems. You will no longer be receiving automated texts or phone calls. If you have questions about our new billing procedures, please email Herwellness56@gmail.com and we will assist you.
Dr. Garritano and Christina are excited about the progress HER Wellness is making as we change – and they hope you are too. Please contact us at 203-409-2539 if you have any questions or concerns. Any suggestions for improvement or services you wish we could provide are always welcome.
